The Canon imageCLASS mf6530 printer is a powerful duplex multifunction printer and copier. The operating system is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000, Me and 98, and Mac OS X.  The printer has functions for printing with the black and white Canon MF6530 printer toner cartridge or color scanning with 24 bit color depth. It copies and prints up to 23 pages per minute of letter size documents based on 20lb paper with a 64 MB copy memory. It is designed for durable and versatile small office use. Some printers have half the paper capacity of its 500-sheet paper cassette. The bonus additional 100 sheet multipurpose tray allows for greater versatility. It can be used for additional paper, envelopes or labels. The combination of the 500 sheet cassette and the 100 sheet tray has multipurpose flexibility for different sizes and types of paper. The combo also accommodates labels and envelopes.

The legal-sized platen glass can be used for single page originals and its 50-sheet capacity automatic document feeder can accommodate multiple paged originals up to its capacity level. The scanner can reduce and enlarge from 50 percent at 1 percent increments to the 200 percent maximum. The buttons for the copier function permit selection of its setting features. It also offers greater control within these settings. The copier can do one and two sided copying and reduce two originals to a one page copy whether the platen or the automatic feeder is utilized. The selection is made by pressing the appropriate button.

The document feeder makes it easier to use the duplex functionality. Two sided functionality is a standout capability of the machine. No more manual labor to be applied to do double-sided printing and copying when needed. It has scanning and OCR software for the option to archive documents on your personal computer.

Basic problem solving of operational issues that might develop is a relatively simple matter. The automatic feeder exit tray is immediately below the input tray. The paper output falls into a tray below the feeder exit tray. The standard paper compartment opens from the front. On the left side there is a section for the Canon ImageClass printer toner cartridge and one for the secondary paper tray.

The keypad for the copier has a numeric values and an LCD screen shows the currently selected paper tray, zoom ratio, number of copies selected, and contrast setting. Double sided scanning from the feeder and double sided copying or printing is slower than the 23 pages per minute normal job rate.

There is a USB port at the back for linking to the PC. If only the copier function is preferred, then this feature need not be utilized. The connection is for the scanning and saving feature or if the printer function is needed. The CD-ROM contained application suite is used to install the toolkit containing the control functions for operation of its versatile features. A button links an operating panel for a particular functional set. The cartridge toner is a long term cost effective benefit. One cartridge will yield 5,000 sheets. The toner save mode may extend this yield limit.

You can view and save the scanned documents or send them to documents to the printer. The PDF file can be one file per page or a whole set of pages in a single document. The search function enables locating text within the document achieved through the OCR program. This model does not have any networking capacity.
